1879 - The Gibraltar Directory - Advertisements
The following are a series of advertisements that appeared at the back of the 1879 edition of the Gibraltar Directory - a Guide Book to the Principle Objects of Interest in Gibraltar and the Neighbourhood.
The man who compiled the directory - Major Gilbard - seems to have been a man of as many trades as those he advertised. According to his own directory he was not only librarian of the Garrison Library but also ADC to the Governor - Lord Napier of Magdala. Later he would also become Police Magistrate and by 1888 - not altogether surprisingly - he was dead.
