Spelling wasn't a strong point in Gibraltar during the 18th century and it took a while before it improved in the 19th. Nevertheless the following tables attempt to follow up the continued appearance - or otherwise - up to 1914 of various streets in Gibraltar from census data available on the Gibraltar National Archives.
Devil's Gap Steps - La Escalera del Monte
The lists are also limited to those places which either no longer seem to exist - Bracebridge Gardens and Brynymor House for example, or those where the spelling is ambiguous - such as Dalmayas Ramp and Demaias Street. A more complete analysis of streets and places in Gibraltar past and present is dealt with elsewhere. (See LINK)
